At your first session, your physiotherapist will take a detailed history and perform a full musculoskeletal assessment. We’ll look at:

• Neck and shoulder posture

• Muscle tension and joint mobility

• Breathing patterns

• Jaw movement (if relevant)

• Movement habits and daily load (e.g., computer work, lifting, training)

 

This helps us identify the primary drivers of your symptoms and tailor treatment to suit your unique presentation.

Our goal isn’t just to reduce pain - it’s to improve how your body moves and functions so the headaches stop coming back. Depending on what’s driving your symptoms, treatment may include:

• Education, to understand both the causes and treatments needed to relieve your headaches

• Manual therapy to relieve tight joints or soft tissue tension in the neck, shoulders, and upper back

• Posture and movement retraining to reduce the load on your head, neck, and jaw

• Targeted strength and mobility exercises  around the neck, shoulders and upper back

• Relaxation strategies including breathing retraining or guided exercises to help manage tension

 

 

We’ll also explore any lifestyle or ergonomic factors that might be contributing - like sleep, mood, stress, physical activity levels and desk setup - and give you practical ways to modify these.
