Supporting Young Bodies Through Growth, Movement, and Change

Adolescence is a time of immense growth and transformation—physically, emotionally, and socially. During this period, it’s common for young people to experience musculoskeletal pain, especially as their bodies rapidly develop and adapt to new loads and demands. At Fit Bomb Physio, we understand the unique challenges that come with growing up, and we offer targeted, compassionate care to help adolescents overcome pain and build lifelong confidence in their bodies.

Understanding Adolescent Pain

Pain during adolescence often doesn’t stem from a single injury. Instead, it typically develops gradually, linked to the natural changes in bones, muscles, and joints during growth spurts. While the pain is real and can be incredibly frustrating or even scary, it usually isn’t a sign of serious injury or disease.

Common complaints include:

• Knee pain (eg. Osgood-Schlatter disease, patello-femoral pain)

• Heel pain (eg., Sever’s disease)

• Hip and groin pain

• Back pain, often linked to postural changes or increased physical demands

• Generalised muscle or joint discomfort without a clear cause

These symptoms often occur alongside increased activity levels—such as taking up a new sport, training harder, or simply being more active during school holidays.

Why Early Management Matters

If left unaddressed, adolescent pain can become persistent and may limit a young person’s ability to fully participate in the activities they enjoy. It can also affect confidence, mood, and social engagement. That’s why it’s important to provide early education and support that helps both the adolescent and their family understand what’s happening and how to manage it.

At Fit Bomb Physio, we take a proactive and empathetic approach. We focus on demystifying pain, removing fear, and giving young people the tools they need to move well, recover well, and thrive.

Our Approach: Individualised, Evidence-Based, Empowering

Our physiotherapy team takes the time to understand the full picture—not just the pain. We assess physical factors like movement control, strength, and coordination, but we also explore lifestyle, school pressures, sport participation, rest and recovery, and emotional wellbeing.

Treatment is tailored to each adolescent’s needs and may include:

• Education about pain and growth-related changes

• Exercise-based rehabilitation, including strength, flexibility, and control training

• Sport-specific guidance for safely continuing or returning to activity

• Strategies to boost confidence and reduce fear of movement

• Involvement of parents/caregivers to support long-term success

Importantly, we don’t just focus on “fixing” pain—we focus on building resilience and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle that can last a lifetime.

Helping Adolescents Stay Active, Engaged, and Confident

We understand that adolescence can be tough enough without the added challenge of persistent pain. Our mission is to support young people not only in recovering from discomfort but also in developing the knowledge, strength, and confidence to move without fear. Whether your child is an elite young athlete or simply growing fast and feeling the effects, we’re here to help them feel strong, capable, and in control of their body.

At Fit Bomb Physio, we’re proud to walk alongside adolescents and their families through this important stage of life—making movement feel better, stronger, and more fun.
